The first official pressing of these 1969 sessions in the Netherlands, this three LP set is fantastic. Bill Evans is a stud as well all know, so this release that features probably the best known members of his trio over time is not a surprise musically. Eddie Gomez and Marty Morell are who I am referring to.
What sets this apart are the interviews and amazing packaging. one interview is with a Dutch journalist that talks about Evans impact on the jazz scene in the country. At least that is what the liner notes say. I don’t speak Dutch. It will give you goosebumps to listen to though.
The cover, booklet and attention to detail will knock your socks off. This grab on record store day ended up being my favorite this year. I was pleasantly surprised and highly recommend it.
One knock on the packaging. It’s a three LP set but they don’t fit in the sleeve. How they set this up with no intention for it to be sealed is very aggravating. Beautiful set up but poor utilitarian design.
